Talk Radio 702 named Station of the Year

JOHANNESBURG - Talk Radio 702 took top honours at the annual MTN Radio Awards at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday night, scooping the Commercial Radio Station of the Year Award.

This is the biggest award of the night and it is the third time that 702 has won the award in the last five years.

The glittering awards ceremony was attended by about 1200 people including the who's who of radio.

Another big winner was the John Robbie Breakfast Show which won both Best Breakfast Show and Best Breakfast Presenter.

On Afternoon Drive, 567 CapeTalk's John Maytham won for Best Afternoon Drive Presenter. Best News and Actuality Producer went to The Money Show's Cecile Basson.

Eyewitness News (EWN) also shone on the night, with four awards.

Jacob Moshokoa was named Best News and Actuality Presenter, Marc Lewis won Best Sports Reporter, Lebogang Moeketsi was the Top News Bulletin Reader and Ian Crewe was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Across all four stations, the Lead SA #StopRape BEEP campaign was acknowledged as best Community Project.
