JOHANNESBURG - Toyota South Africa says it expects up to 100,000 vehicles to be brought in for inspection as part of a global recall campaign.

Those who own certain models of the Toyota Hilux, Yaris and Fortuner have been advised to take their vehicles in for inspection as a precautionary measure.

The auto giant announced earlier this week that over six million vehicles worldwide would be checked for faults.

Toyota South Africa's Leo Kok says the local subsidiary is still finalising its numbers.

"The volumes should be big and what we are doing now is we are drawing our figures from Japan and getting our lists and cross referencing that with our vehicle sales to make sure every owner with those cars can be contacted."
