CAPE TOWN - About 200 Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) members, protesting against inadequate healthcare in the Western Cape, have arrived at the Provincial Legislature, where they are expected to hand over a memorandum of their grievances.

Members leading the march say it was time Western Cape residents were granted the right to proper health services.

They have requested Provincial Health MEC Theuns Botha receive the memorandum personally but it's not yet clear whether he will do so.

In the memorandum the group has raised concerns about the ill treatment of patients and the shortage of medication, among other issues.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have maintained a strong presence in the area to keep an eye on demonstrators.
