CT shack fires leave 70 people homeless
Fires broke out in various Cape Town informal settlements this weekend destroying 18 shacks.
CAPE TOWN - About 70 people have been left homeless due to shack fires in several Cape Town communities this weekend.
The city's Disaster Risk Management's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says a fire ripped through the Asanda Village informal settlement in Strand yesterday destroying six shacks.
Other fires broke out in Milnerton, Khayelitsha and Langa this morning.
"The significant fire that occurred this morning resulted in 18 shacks being destroyed by the fire that broke out in the informal area and then spread to adjacent properties."
