Parents wary of HPV vaccination
The first round of the vaccination campaign targeting public and specialised schools wraps up today.
CAPE TOWN - Parents of grade four school girls in the Western Cape have just a week left to sign the consent forms allowing their daughters to be vaccinated against the cancer causing Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
The first round of the campaign targeting public and specialised schools wraps up today.
The provincial health department's Jo-Anne Otto says negative information about the side effects of the vaccine could be why many parents have not signed the consent forms.
"We hope parents can make an informed decision and not a decision based on what they have heard, we hope they will look at the success we've had around the world."
