CAPE TOWN - The Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum (CPF) has vowed to do all it can to assist police in arresting those responsible for the mob killing of a teenager.

Sixteen-year-old Quinton Pietersen was allegedly beaten to death by a group of residents after he was accused of a burglary.

The forum's Abie Isaacs has condemned the attack.

"We believe there's a protocol of the law and people should have followed that process instead of taking the law into their own hands."

A number of vigilante attacks have been reported in informal settlements across Cape Town over the last few months.

In February, a Nyanga man was killed in an alleged vigilante attack.

The man in his 20s was beaten to death by an angry mob of Samora Machel residents who reportedly accused him of trying to break into a tuck shop in the area.

In another incident, a 17-year-old boy was killed by a mob in New Crossroads.

He was stabbed more than a dozen times by a group of young men armed with planks, knives and machetes.
