Ramaphosa promises new Philippi homes

CAPE TOWN - ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa says his party will ensure the construction of 3,000 new homes in Philippi.

Ramaphosa is part of a high-level ANC delegation campaigning in the Western Cape ahead of the upcoming elections.

Addressing a packed community hall in Philippi on Sunday, Ramaphosa also listed some of the ANC's successes over the last 20 years.

Ramaphosa dedicated a large chunk of his speech to formal housing.

He sighted Western Cape Premier Helen Zille as a stumbling block in the delivery of adequate services.

He says 3.3 million homes have been built by the ANC over the last two decades.

He adds one million more will be built in the next five years.

According to the ANC deputy president the party is also committed to creating six million job opportunities.
