Petrol up, diesel down
Petrol will increase by 5-7c/l, while diesel will decrease by 8-9c/l from next Wednesday.
JOHANNESBURG - The petrol price will increase by between five and seven cents a litre (c/l) on Wednesday, the Department of Energy announced on Friday.
Diesel will decrease by between eight and nine c/l, while illuminating paraffin will go up 35 cents.
Economist Dawie Roodt said, "I'm hopeful we'll see a reduction in the petrol price over the next couple of months because the rand isn't doing too bad. I expect international markets to be under pressure over the coming months."
In February, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan increased the fuel levy by 12c/l, while the Road Accident Fund levy was hiked by eight c/l.
The new rates came into effect during this fuel price adjustment.
Gordhan made the announcement during his budget speech in Parliament, Cape Town.
