Matjila appointed acting Eskom CEO

JOHANNESBURG - Collin Matjila has been appointed as Eskom's acting chief executive officer (CEO), the parastatal revealed on Thursday.
Outgoing CEO Brian Dames will leave the power giant at the end of March.
Matjila, an Eskom board member and former National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) chairperson, faces an uphill battle.
He will have to try and keep the lights on after the power utility announced emergency load-shedding earlier this month.
Eskom spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said, "Dames will be leaving office on 31 March. An executive recruitment process is underway to find the appropriate successor."
The company on Monday said while electricity supply would be strained over the next few weeks, it did not expect any load-shedding.
