One dead, 6 homeless in fire

On Friday another shack fire in Lavender Hill left three people displaced.

CAPE TOWN - A shack fire near Nyanga in Cape Town on Saturday has left one person dead and six others homeless.

A 28-year-old man died in the incident at the Kekaza Transit Camp (KTC) informal settlement.

Cape Town Disaster Management's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says, "The circumstances that led to the fire are not yet known at this stage and a case docket has been opened by the local police station to investigate the preceding events that led to the occurrence of the fire."

On Friday a shack went up in flames in Lavender Hill, leaving three people displaced.
