Morris: Don't count SA out yet
Chris Morris says the Proteas are still the favourites to win the World Cup T20 in Bangladesh.
JOHANNESBURG - Highveld Lions and Proteas fast bowler Chris Morris has told EWN Sport that AB De Villiers needs to bat higher up the order for South Africa during the current World T20 in Bangladesh.
The South African batting line up was criticised during the recent Australia series, a series Russell Domingo's troops lost 2-0.
According to Morris, someone as talented as de Villiers needs as much time at the wicket as possible.
"I definitely think they were testing the waters. They were trying different combinations. So I think AB should go up high because he's the world's best batman currently and once we get that combination correct, we'll be unstoppable."
Morris underwent surgery a month ago on his ankle, an operation that will see him miss the rest of the current cricket season. Morris says he's still a long way away from returning to action.
"It's a long process for my foot to heal. The operation was very successful as they were removing two pieces of bone out of my foot. The recovery is very slow and I have got to teach my foot to walk properly again."
Meanwhile, Morris says the Proteas are still one of the favourites to win the World Cup T20 in Bangladesh despite losing back-to-back matches against Australia.
South Africa plays in a warm-up match against Bangladesh today and Pakistan on Tuesday before getting their campaign underway on Saturday against Sri Lanka.
Morris says regardless of their performance against the Aussies, Russell Domingo's men have enough quality to challenge for the title.
