CAPE TOWN - Beacon Valley residents are demanding decisive action to end gang violence gripping the area.

City of Cape Town law enforcement officials carried out an operation in Beacon Valley on Wednesday.

The area was the scene of a deadly gang shooting earlier this month in which four people were killed.

Metro police raided three suspected drug dens, but only found a small quantity of mandrax tablets and empty straws used to store the drug.

Residents say their children are not safe and can't even play outside given the rampant violence in the area.

"Some of my grandchildren can't even go home, they have to come stay here it's not safe for them to go home. Children can't even play outside

The raids may have given the community some hope but as a stark reminder of an ongoing turf war, a man was wounded in a suspected gang-shooting moments after the authorities cleared the area.
