JOHANNESBURG - Platinum Stars coach Alan Freese says his side needs to find their scoring boots if they are to beat Kaizer Chiefs tonight.

The two sides meet in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, with Chiefs looking to extend their six point lead over second placed Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the Soweto derby on Saturday.

Having seen his side fail to convert their chances into goals for much of this season, Freese knows that his team needs to start improving in front of goal.

"We're not finding the net regularly enough. We are not putting the ball in the net even though we are creating chances. Maybe that will change, you never know. We keep on training and playing and we will see whether things will change."

In other PSL clashes tonight, Vladimir Vermozovic takes charge of his first game as Buccaneers boss when Moroka Swallows host Pirates at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Isaac 'Shakes' Kungwane says that while 'VV' will bring stability to Pirates, the Buccaneers cannot be considered title contenders this season due to their inconsistency thus far.

"It's unfortunate that the Champions League has affected them and the performance of their players. All the travelling has started to take effect now. All is not lost though, because it is possible for them to get to second or third. But winning the league? I don't think so. If they cannot beat teams like Tuks, it will be difficult to win the league."

Moroka Swallows head coach Zeca Marques says this has been the toughest season since he took over as coach.

Postponed PSL fixtures, as well as the sudden passing of assistant coach Dennis Lota, has seen the team fail to win any games in 2014. Marques admitted that it has been a challenging period for his side.

"Emotionally it was really taxing on the team. It's difficult to motivate them, because it is hard to motivate a team that has lost a dear friend, and in a short space of time we had to play two games. I think we've now shaken that off and the guys are now competing again, but we've lost some valuable points in the interim as a result. It's really been a testing season for us as a team."

The other PSL fixtures tonight are Bloemfontein Celtic versus Polokwane City and Golden Arrows versus Black Aces.
