Chance of more load shedding as rain continues

Eskom says it will monitor the situation and inform the nation of possible load shedding in advance.

JOHANNESBURG - With rain expected for the next few days, Eskom says it cannot rule out the possibility of another round of load shedding.

Last week, the power utility had to implement load shedding for a few hours, saying the grid couldn't keep up with demand.

Some businesses had to close their doors temporarily while health facilities relied on alternative plans and airports were disrupted.

There's uncertainty whether the country will have to experience more rolling blackouts this week as the relentless rain continues.

Eskom's Andrew Etzinger says they will monitor the situation and inform the nation well in advance.

"We are concerned and we'll keep the public informed as to how the technicalities of our power stations play out."

Eskom has once again called on its customers to use electricity sparingly as the power grid is under pressure.
