CAPE TOWN - The Stormers are in the midst of an injury crisis as they prepare for the second match of their Super Rugby tour of Australasia.

Stormers hooker Scarra Ntubeni has been ruled out for five weeks after tearing a calf muscle, while prop Pat Cilliers will be out for six weeks after suffering rib cartilage damage in last Saturday's 14-13 loss to the Crusaders.

The Stormers next head to Hamilton to take on the reigning Super Rugby champions the Chiefs on Friday.

There are further injury concerns for the Stormers as prop Frans Malherbe has broken his toe and loose forward Michael Rhodes has a shoulder injury. Both will be given until Wednesday to prove their fitness.

Boland prop Martin Dreyer will join the squad in Auckland this week, while negotiations are underway to secure Griquas hooker Martin Bezuidenhout as cover for Ntubeni.
