DA & Sanral battle it out in court
The DA took Sanral to court to contest the constitutionality of laws governing the e-toll system.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) took Sanral to court claiming the bill was incorrectly tagged as a Section 75 Bill.
It says the bill should have been debated in both the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces (NCOP)
It claims the bill passed in September did not follow the proper procedure and should be declared unconstitutional.
Sanral's David Unterhalter told the court it recognised the legal questions raised by the DA.
The DA argued the bill should have been passed as a Section 76 Bill and not tagged as a Section 75 Bill in Parliament.
Sanral's Tiyani Rikhotso says, "We are happy with the manner in which the proceedings went. We are quite confident that we stated a good case as we have done in the past and we shall await the verdict when the judge eventually hands down the judgment."
A ruling is expected later this month.
