Stegmann fit for Blues battle
Bulls flanker Deon Stegmann has been passed fit and is in line to face the Blues this weekend.
CAPE TOWN - Bulls flanker Deon Stegmann has been cleared fit for selection and could feature in the Bulls' match against the Auckland Blues at Loftus on Saturday.
Stegmann, who has been out with a groin strain since January, will take part in a full training session this week.
Number eight Jono Ross and prop Frik Kirsten will not train today as they recover from light knocks, while young fullback Jessie Kriel and winger Travis Ismaiel will resume training on Tuesday.
Loose forwards Pierre Spies and Arno Botha are the only two long-term casualties.
Meanwhile, the Auckland Blues touched down in Johannesburg this morning for their two-week tour of South Africa without a host of key players.
Forwards Hayden Triggs and Jerome Kaino stayed at home having recently returned to New Zealand rugby after playing in Japan, while a number of injured backline players including Ma'a Nonu, Francis Saili, Jamison Gibson-Park and Baden Kerr also missed the trip.
The Blues will be on a high after their comeback win against the Crusaders last weekend, and will need to be at their best in their tour clashes against the Bulls and the Lions.
