Worcester cop killer found guilty
Walden Willemse has been found guilty of shooting dead Warrant Officer Peter Roux in 2012.
CAPE TOWN - A Worcester man has been found guilty of the 2012 murder of police officer Warrant Officer Peter Roux.
Walden Willemse was convicted in the Western Cape High Court on charges of murder, theft and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition this morning.
The 29-year-old shot and killed Roux with his own service pistol in Worcester in 2012.
Willemse has several previous convictions which include reckless and negligent driving and assault.
He was first convicted for burglary at the age of 13.
Roux was robbed of his service pistol and other belongings after he picked up a prostitute.
The sex worker then apparently gave the firearm to Willemse, whom she knew.
Willemse then shot and killed Roux.
The case will continue in court on Thursday.
