DURBAN - Pupils at a Durban school are reeling in the wake of the accidental hanging of a nine-year-old boy in a classroom yesterday.
The boy is believed to have died in a school yard game gone wrong.
The child had a drawstring of a raincoat tied around his neck which went through a desk and was fixed to a window.
When he was discovered, his friends had been around him unaware of his distress when he disappeared under a desk.
Struggling to breathe, the pupil was taken by a teacher to a nearby hospital where he soon died thereafter.
A psychologist has been at the school to counsel the teacher and pupils.
An investigation into the pupil's death continues.
