CAPE TOWN - While Gauteng premier Nomvula Mokonyane says R8.5 billion has been spent on health infrastructure in the past five years, the Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is one sector that needs major improvement.

During Mokonyane's state of the province address yesterday, she announced that the Jabulani and Natalspruit hospitals would be opened this year following several delays.

She also emphasised the improvements made in the sector in the past 20 years of democracy.

But the DA's premier candidate Mmusi Maimane, says it's not enough and there are endless challenges when it comes to health care.
