Authorities have offered to help with the funeral arrangements of a man who died in a shack fire.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Disaster Risk Management has offered to help with the funeral arrangements of a man who died in a shack fire.
The tragedy happened in the Fisantekraal informal settlement outside Durbanville on Saturday morning.
Disaster spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says the body of the man was discovered by firefighters who were called out when five shacks caught alight.
Solomons-Johannes says the incident left 11 people homeless.
"The circumstances surrounding the occurrence of these two fires are unclear at this stage. An inquest has been opened by the local police station."
