Maqubela hires Oscar Pistorius advocate
Oscar Pistorius's advocate Kenny Oldwage will represent Thandi Maqubela when her trial resumes.
It emerged on Monday Maqubela appointed a new defence team and dumped her Legal Aid lawyer.
Maqubela, who was found guilty last year of killing her husband acting Judge Patrick Maqubela in 2009, made a brief appearance in court this morning, wearing her signature headdress.
Her lawyer Christiaan Bosman, who was merely standing in for the Gauteng-based advocate, asked the court to postpone Maqubela's sentencing to August.
This postponement was expected as her new legal team will need time to prepare.
Oldwage is no stranger to the case, as he represented Maqubela back in 2010.
But when she seemingly ran out of funds, she opted for Legal Aid.
Oldwage is also on Paralympian Oscar Pistorius's defence team.
The South African athlete will go on trial on 3 March for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013.
