Party heavyweights for SONA debate
Political parties have rolled out some of their big guns to debate President Jacob Zuma's SONA.
CAPE TOWN - Political parties have rolled out some of their big guns to debate President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The debate is underway in the National Assembly in Cape Town.
Zuma delivered his address last Thursday.
One of Zuma's staunchest defenders, Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande, was the first speaker in the debate.
He was followed by Democratic Alliance (DA) Parliamentary Leader Lindiwe Mazibuko.
Congress of the People (Cope) leader Mosiuoa Lekota and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi will also0 take to the podium.
Other Cabinet ministers coming to the fore today include Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies, Women, Children and People with Disabilities Minister Lulu Xingwana and Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor, who speaks last.
Zuma will reply on Thursday.
