Steenkamps to attend Pistorius trial
Friends and family of the late Reeva Steenkamp commemorated her on Valentine's Day.
JOHANNESBURG - As Oscar Pistorius' legal team prepares for his murder trial in two weeks' time the friends and family of his late girlfriend have indicated they will be attending the proceedings.
Reeva Steenkamp's family commemorated on Friday one year since she was shot dead by the blade runner.
A private ceremony was held in Port Elizabeth while her best friend in Joburg, Gina Myers, wrote an emotional Valentine's Day tribute on Facebook.
Myers became best friends with Steenkamp when she stayed with her in Joburg.
Her tribute is addressed to Alfie which was her affectionate nickname for her.
Gina Myers says her heart broke into a million pieces when Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead by Pistorius. She said she felt her energy the entire day on Friday, a year after Steenkamp died.
Myers is a well-known make-up artist in South Africa. In the tribute she said Steenkamp's death has made her experience love from different people celebrating her friend's life.
Steenkamp's former flatmate also says she knows her friend is now an angel and feels protected by the wings of the Port Elizabeth-born model.
