DA suspends councillors
David Mosehla and Stephen Shabalala were welcomed into the ANC on Wednesday.
JOHANNESBURG - Two councillors who defected to the ANC during Wednesday's jobs march in Johannesburg have been suspended, the Democratic Alliance (DA) announced on Thursday.
David Mosehla and Stephen Shabalala were welcomed into the ANC by the party's Gauteng secretary.
Their blue DA T-shirts were ripped apart and set alight in front of the ANC Luthuli House headquarters in the city centre.
DA Gauteng Leader John Moodey says they have a disciplinary pending.
"They do not have the authority to have dual membership with the ANC. They have crossed over to the ANC and therefore, they have relinquished their membership."
