Game of Thrones teaser hits the web
The makers have released a tantalising 14-minute teaser ahead of the season 4 premiere.
JOHANNESBURG - The makers of hit TV series Game of Thrones have released a 14-minute teaser online. The season promises to be the fastest paced yet in the wildly popular franchise.
It shows scenes from the upcoming fourth season, as well as interviews with some of the main characters. The online video includes answers to questions posed by fans on social media site Twitter.
The show first went to air in April 2011, and quickly gained cult status. The unpredictable plot line, and the impunity with which beloved characters are killed off just added to the Game of Thrones myth. Season three ended with the surprise murder at a wedding of Catelyn and Rob Stark - two characters who had been integral to the story so far.
Season 4 promises a wedding scene to end all wedding scenes, a rekindling of the brotherly relationship between Tyrion and Jamie Lannister, a new path for Arya Stark and bumpy ride for Daenarys Targaryen and her clutch of dragons.
The series has smashed sales records across the board and garnered numerous awards. It also has the dubious honour of being one of the most pirated series of all time. But series director David Petrarca is on record as saying the illegal downloads don't hurt the franchise, because they create such a buzz on social media sites.
Season 4 is due to premiere on 6 April this year.
