JOHANNESBURG - Two Cape Town metro police officers have been shot and wounded in Manenberg.

The officials had pulled over a vehicle while carrying out a stop-and-search operation early this morning.

As they approached the car, the occupants allegedly opened fire.

The City of Cape Town's JP Smith says the officers were wearing bullet-proof vests but were each hit in the shoulders and legs.

He says they are both in hospital in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Cape Town boy was attacked and stabbed at a Manenberg high school in what's believed to be a gang-related incident.
