CAPE TOWN - Cape Town city bosses say 2014 is a big year for the MyCiTi Bus Service after several delays in the rollout of the multimillion rand project.

The first phase of the rapid bus service was launched in 2011.

But since then, there have been more than a few speed bumps.

The City of Cape Town's Brett Herron says phase 1A of the MyCiTi bus project should have been completed by now.

But he says buses will hit the road in new areas from next week.

"We will roll out to Hout Bay, Imizamo Yethu and Hangburg and then at the beginning of March we connect Dunoon onto our service with an extension of our trunk route."

The MyCiTi Bus Service will be introduced to Atlantis in April while a much-anticipated express service to Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha is set to be launched on 1 July.
