CT protest march underway
Informal settlement residents are marching to the CBD in protest against poor service delivery.
CAPE TOWN - Hundreds of African National Congress (ANC) members have gathered in Keizergracht Street in the Cape Town CBD from where they'll embark on a service delivery protest through the City Centre.
The demonstration aims to highlight issues relating to service delivery in poor areas.
Authorities are out in full force to prevent a repeat of a protest march late last year that turned violent.
While groups of ANC members and disgruntled township residents continue to arrive, protesters are keeping themselves busy by singing and dancing.
The demonstration was meant to start at 10am this morning, but has been delayed to allow protesters more time to arrive.
Protesters are marching against a lack of adequate housing and poor service delivery in Cape Town townships.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions has also given its backing to the demonstration.
