JOHANNESBURG - Commuters are being warned that they may be left stranded on Monday as the National Taxi Alliance is planning to march to the transport department's offices in Pretoria.

Taxi operators from around the country are planning to hand over a memorandum of demands to Transport Minister Dipuo Peters.

Taxi drivers are demonstrating against government's failure to issue operating licenses to taxis which they say have made them fall prey to e-tolls.

The taxi alliance's Theo Malele says, "Those grievances amongst others are the review of the taxi recapitalisation programme, the non-subsidisation of the taxi industry and its commuters being treated as second class citizens."
