Zuma commits to rebuilding Africa
President Jacob Zuma made an impassioned call for restoring law and order and social services after conflict.
ADDIS ABABA - President Jacob Zuma has pledged South Africa's continued support for the continent's post conflict reconstruction initiative.
He has told a pledging conference at the African Union (AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa that rebuilding a society after war is as important as brokering a peace in the first place.
Drawing on his experience as a mediator in Burundi, President Jacob Zuma made an impassioned call for restoring law and order and social services after conflict.
He says war gives men with guns the belief they own everything, in peace time they need to learn they can't simply take what they want and must work for a living, just as those who lost everything should be helped rebuilding their lives.
