Madonsela's Nkandla report may be delayed
It's being reported Bheki Cele is accused of not intervening to stop Nkandla construction costs.
JOHANNESBURG - Questions are being asked this morning about whether Thuli Madonsela's much-awaited Nkandla report may now be delayed and released after elections.
The _Mail & Guardian _is reporting that Bheki Cele's decision to challenge the Public Protector's findings against him may significantly slow down the investigation.
Madonsela and her team investigated how over R200 million was spent on so-called security upgrades at President Jacob Zuma's homestead.
It's being reported Madonsela has delivered adverse findings against Cele. He was in charge during a crucial period of the project and stands accused of not intervening to stop the runaway construction costs.
He's now reportedly asking for proof and looks set to fight tooth and nail against Madonsela's findings.
The Public Protector is due to reveal in just over a week when the report will finally be made public.
An earlier leak suggests the report will be scathing in its criticism against Zuma who may be asked to repay some of the money and account to Parliament.
