Cosatu to respond to affiliates' demands
The nine unions want Cosatu to hold a special congress.
JOHANNESBURG - The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) is now expected to respond to the demands from nine of its affiliates to hold a special congress.
On Wednesday the nine unions held a joint press conference in which they claimed the federation was paralysed because of Cosatu President's Sidumo Dlamini's refusal to call this conference.
The unions have all formally written to Dlamini asking for him to arrange the gathering to discuss the fate of suspended Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi.
Dlamini says Cosatu will respond to the claims from the nine unions.
