LIMPOPO - More than 100 family members, friends and neighbours have gathered at the Chebeng Village in Limpopo for the funeral service of the six-year-old boy who died after falling into a pit toilet at school.

Michael Komape had gone to use the toilet during break time on Monday.

When he failed to return to class, his teacher thought he had gone home for the day.

His body was discovered by a fellow classmate in the pit toilet hours later.

The grade R pupil's young classmates are among the people gathered here for his funeral service this morning.

They have flowers in their hands and pictures of their classmate.

The atmosphere is a sad one as family members and friends sit next to his little box and sob uncontrollably.

He died at the Mahlodumela Primary School, a few kilometres away from his home on Monday afternoon.

Komape has been described as a good boy who respected his elders.
