Transport ministry saddened by Mpumalanga accident

JOHANNESBURG - The Ministry of Transport has expressed condolences to the families of the 15 people who were killed in an accident in Witbank, in Mpumalanga.

The accident happened on the R555 on Friday when a minibus taxi collided head on with a truck.

The truck driver was not injured.

However, four children were among those who lost their lives.

Two survivors were taken to hospital for further treatment.

The transport demartment's Jomo Khasu says Minister Ddipuo Peters is saddened by the news.

"The minister would want to express her shock and sadness for the loss of life in these crashes and also wishes to express her deepest condolences to the families affected in this one."
