JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating concerns over the safety of a fifth man linked to Radovan Krejcir's kidnap, assault and attempted murder case.

The Palm Ridge Magistrates Court heard on Friday that there was an attempt by an unauthorized police officer to book out Sibusiso Miya from the Johannesburg Prison.

The Czech businessman appeared with his four co-accused, who include two members of the Hawks.

Miya's legal team has raised questions about the state's claims that their client was almost booked out of the Johannesburg Prison allegedly by an unauthorised police officer.

The defence team says it is impossible for anyone to try and book out an inmate without the right paperwork.

Prosecutor Louis Mashiyane says he is concerned over Miya's safety if he continues to be detained at the Johannesburg Prison.

But it is at the Krugersdorp police cells where Miya claims he was refused food for days.

The magistrate dismissed this saying Miya will stay in Johannesburg Prison
