WC launches innovative youth programme
The very first Youth Café will be launched in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain at the Wembley Centre.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Social Development Department will launch its very first Youth Cafe on Monday as part of its promise to clamp down on unemployment in the province.
The department's New Draft Youth Strategy identified this project as one of its core initiatives for youth development programmes.
Social Development MEC Albert Fritz has described these cafes as a one-stop hub where young people across the social divide can come together and access services, opportunities and support provided by public and private sectors.
"Tomorrow the department of social development and the Western Cape government will be launching the first Youth Café in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain at the Wembley Centre.
"The whole purpose of the café is to deal, to cater and to create programmes for all the youth who fell through the cracks."
