CAPE TOWN - A man has died and another person treated for smoke inhalation following a shack fire in Masiphumelele near Fish Hoek.

Around 100 people have been displaced by the blaze that broke out on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire destroyed 27 wooden structures.

Meanwhile, the city's Fire and Rescue Services's Theo Layne has also advised residents to be cautious over the next few days as hot weather conditions are conducive to runaway fires.

"The weather is expected to be very hot and dry. We request that people be vigilant with regards to making fire."
