JOHANNESBURG - The Congress of the People (Cope) says it is not broke.
Cope's newly elected president Mosiuoa Lekota and ousted leader Mbhazima Shilowa have been embroiled in a leadership battle for the past four years.
The party is currently wrapping up the last day of its national congress in Boksburg where the election manifesto was discussed and new leaders were elected.
Cope's Johann Abrie says the party has a R30 million budget for the election campaign and is definitely not broke according to recent media reports.
"We're spending a fortune right now on our election campaign. Obviously we don't have as much money as we'd like but we are not broke, that's not true."
