Bob Hewitt back in court
Tennis champ Bob Hewitt was accused of sexually assaulted young girls he coached during the 1980s.
JOHANNESBURG - Former tennis champion Bob Hewitt is due back in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Friday on charges of rape and sexual assault.
Hewitt allegedly committed the crimes on young girls he coached during the 1980s.
The Australian born tennis champion came to South Africa about 30 years ago to coach tennis.
He was recently charged with two counts of rape and one of sexual assault after some of his former students came forward.
Hewitt didn't appear in court last year, apparently due to ill health.
He has denied the allegations saying the stories of the alleged victims are false and he plans to prove this.
A trial date is expected to be set today.
