'Steyn in good spirits'
Dale Steyn is positive despite suffering from a chest injury, according to Proteas team doctor.
JOHANNESBURG - Proteas team doctor Mohammad Moosajee has told EWN Sport that Dale Steyn is positive about recovering from his chest injury.
The opening bowler picked up the injury in the Durban Test against India.
Scans showed a minor fracture on the 8th rib on the right hand side.
Despite the enforced break, Moosajee is confident Steyn will be fit in time for the Australia series, and says Steyn is in good spirits.
"I think he's actually enjoying the welcome rest. It gives him a bit more time at home to recover and enjoy himself in order to be focused by the time the Australian series comes around."
Moosajee says Steyn was scheduled to receive some rest anyway.
"We were going to give him at least two weeks off from the Ram Slam T20 Tournament anyway. He was carrying a few niggles from the Test series, so he was only meant to start playing in the middle of February. This injury means he will have to take a further 10 days off to recover."
