JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Katlego Mphela on a pre-contract agreement.

The striker will join the club in July once his deal with Mamelodi Sundowns expires.

Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa confirmed the signing.

"Today [Tuesday] we informed Sundowns that we have reached an agreement with the player and his agent."

Maphosa has also confirmed that the transfer of George Maluleka will not be compromised by SuperSport United withdrawing their interest in Lehlohonolo Majoro.

The spokesperson confirmed that a few details had to be changed but the midfielder is a Chiefs player.

"The negotiating parties will have to make some adjustments and change some addendums on the documents. I saw them doing that today, concerning Majoro's role in the negotiations."

Maphosa said the club is still interested in Sundowns striker Edward Manqele.

"Our proposal with Sundowns still stands. As far as I know, we haven't had a response."
