Concerns over lack of support for CHAN
It is not yet clear how many tickets have been sold for the competition, which kicks off on Saturday.
CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town on Tuesday said it is doing everything in its power to market the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
Concerns have been raised that there is not a lot of interest in the tournament, which kicks off this coming Saturday at Cape Town Stadium.
Bafana Bafana will take on Mozambique in the opening game.
The city's Grant Pascoe says he is not sure how many tickets have been sold.
"The Local Organising Committee (LOC) is responsible for ticketing and we have not heard any feedback from them with regards to how many tickets have been sold. But traditionally, the footballing crowd waits until the last minute."
The competition will take place in three cities, Cape Town, Mangaung and Polokwane.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has called on the public to support African competitions.
