JOHANNESBURG - It appears that there may be more footage of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's skiing accident after a witness said he caught the moment by chance on his smartphone.

The witness says he was filming his girlfriend on the slopes when he captured Schumacher's fall.

Just over a week ago, the retired driver hit his head on a rock while skiing in the French Alps.

He is currently in critical condition and has been in an induced coma since the accident.

French investigators are currently examining the video from a Go Pro camera that was mounted onto Schumacher's helmet at the time of the incident.

CNN's Christina Macfarlane visited the site of the accident.

"The first people to report to the scene were the ski patrol. They were located a short distance away."
