JOHANNESBURG - Maritzburg United have confirmed that Clinton Larsen has been fired from his job as head coach.

Larsen was appointed as Maritzburg head coach in October last year following the departure of Ernst Middendorp.

The club released a statement on their website saying that they informed Larsen's business manager Mike Makaab on 18 December that his position would be looked at following the PSL fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns on 20 December.

The club says Larsen was sacked due to poor results and the belief that the club would not finish the season in a top eight position.

Larsen was in charge of nine games and managed to secure only one win.

This is the second time Larsen has been removed as the head coach of a PSL club this season.

He had resigned from his position at Bloemfontein Celtic to take over the job at Maritzburg United.

Maritzburg are 14th on the log, having played 15 games and secured 13 points.
