JOHANNESBURG - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's alleged associate on Friday paid a moving tribute to his late father.

Miso Mihaljevic apparently suffered a stroke before dying of a heart attack on Christmas Eve.

His son, Djordje Mihaljevic, repeatedly denied reports that his father died because of an alleged kidnap and torture plot linked to Krejcir.

Speaking at the funeral service at the Greek Orthodox church in Houghton on Friday morning, Djordje said his father's death left him with a deep wound that would never heal.

A teary-eyed Djordje told mourners his father's death is a great loss to him and has changed his life forever.

He says he often took for granted the true value of friendship and drifted away from things that mattered the most - like family.

Djordje says now that his father is dead, he will stop living his life the way he wants.

Instead, he wants to live the way his father would have wanted him to.

Three priests spent half the service praying and performing a special ritual around the coffin.

Mourners were later afforded the opportunity to pay their respects, with one person kissing the engraved coffin.
