KNP elephant shot after attack
A male elephant has been shot dead by rangers after it attacked a couple.
JOHANNESBURG - An elephant bull at the Kruger National Park has been put down on Tuesday after it attacked a couple.
South African National Parks (SanPARKS) says the pair were following the elephant bull to film it when it suddenly turned around and trampled the car.
The vehicle was pushed for about 400 metres.
SanPARKS spokesperson Ike Phaahla says a woman has been admitted to hospital while her husband has been treated for shock.
"Her condition is not serious but she is still under observation in hospital.
"The animal was tracked by our rangers and subsequently shot. It was observed that it had been involved in an earlier fight with another bull elephant."
