CCMA intervenes in Bawusa dispute
The CCMA has stepped in to assist the farmworker’s union resolve a drawn out labour dispute.
CAPE TOWN - The Building and Allied Workers Union of South Africa (Bawusa) says the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has now stepped in to try and resolve a drawn out labour dispute affecting farms in some parts of the Boland in the province.
Bawusa's Nosey Pieterse says they have been in meetings with farmers for weeks.
But he hopes an agreement will be reached in coming weeks.
He explains the union is unhappy with deductions from workers' wages.
"It was the issue of unlawful deductions and changes to conditions of employment. The CCMA is facilitating."
