No plans to remove Bokaba
Selby Bokaba was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Christmas morning.
PRETORIA - The City of Tshwane says it has no plans to remove Selby Bokaba from his position in the municipality.
Bokaba, Tshwane's head of corporate communications, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on Christmas morning.
However, he has denied any wrongdoing.
He will return to court next year.
The City of Tshwane says it will have talks with Bokaba to gain the full details of the incident before making a decision.
It says it will respect the legal process and wait for the results from Bokaba's court hearing.
The city's Blessing Manale says, "We have not taken a decision regarding his role in the municipality. We do not think that at this stage it warrants any other action except to just advise him to conduct himself differently until the matter is concluded."
The municipality also urged motorists to take caution and not to drink and drive.
Over 800 people have been killed on the country's roads since the beginning of December.
