Motlanthe: Be safe over festive season
Motlanthe urged the country not to indulge in substance and alcohol abuse and avoid physical violence.
JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe has urged South Africans not to indulge in substance and alcohol abuse and to avoid physical violence at all costs during the festive season.
Motlanthe has also asked South Africans to think about those less fortunate.
"I'd like to appeal to all of us to lend a helping hand to fellow humanity and showing compassion especially to the vulnerable among us."
Motlanthe says it's the first time that the country celebrates the festive season particularly without Nelson Mandela, adding his legacy will continue to inspire the county's democracy.
